Five Web Design Tips to Save Time

Given the many aspects of creating a good website, website design can be controversial. You want your website to show up in search engines, preferably on page one, and you also want it to be geared toward your visitors so that they spend as much time as possible on it.

Web Design Tips

Many web designers will tell you that great web design takes a lot of work to get properly. There are numerous ways to decrease this time; however, how can you ensure that the design quality does not suffer because of time efficiency? Here are five web design techniques that help you conserve time while preserving high quality.

1. Use website templates

Web designers regularly use this technique to save time. There are a variety of layouts available online, some of which are free and others that are not. This is a plug-and-play design strategy in which you simply fill up the different elements in the layout with content and conserve a lot of time.

The disadvantage is that, while conserving time, a website template is less personalized than other designs. To maintain an even more customized technique while still using templates, it’s advised that you have a selection of templates to select from to make sure that the sites you develop have different style options.

2. Include footer and header file for each page

This can be achieved in various ways. For example, you can write a unique header and footer data with PHP and include it on each web page. You can use a nested layout in Dreamweaver to include headers and footers in your primary template. Use server-side includes or JavaScript to imitate a client-side included in raw HTML.

Using these includes, you may save a lot of time by only editing one file instead of making edits on each page when you wish to modify the header. These include tags aren’t just for headers and footers; they might be used for any part of your website that appears on multiple pages.

3. Make a code library

If you develop many websites, you’ll most likely want to use part of the code in multiple tasks. You can immediately access these elements from the library by placing the different sections of code you use into a library of sorts. It’s often only a matter of cutting and pasting to get the elements you need for your sites in place and save a lot of time. It’s similar to using a layout (you could include your very own templates in your library). It can, however, save other types of code, such as regular JavaScript code that you use regularly or a specific structure inside the website code that you like to use occasionally.

4. Use a web server

You can test code that requires a server (like PHP and SQL code) without putting it on the web by installing a web server in your area. Making code changes and testing them instantly saves a lot of time that would be invested conserving, submitting, and trying new web design projects.

5. Find helpful tools

Every web developer has different needs and uses different tools, yet it’s worth looking into the possibilities for solutions that can help you be a lot more productive. It may be a Firefox extension (like the web developer toolbar), a specialized graphics editor, and even a website design professional you can regularly ask questions on a forum (gurus can often be some of the best sources). You can save time discovering the tools and resources to help you with your layout process.

When you use these five website design strategies to conserve time on your website development projects, you’ll be able to do many more tasks quicker and be a lot more productive.
